Fellowship with God?

God is perfect - we are not.

Jesus took all punishment, all sin, all guilt upon himself and now we as newborn, flawless people can come before our holy and perfect God.

God no longer even thinks of our sins (Hebrews 8:12). The sacrifice of Jesus is so extensive and great that with it all we are forgiven forever.

How can we have fellowship with our God?

Commit your life to the Lord

Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. (Psalm 37,5)

King David calls us in this psalm to consciously choose God's ways. It is a firm trust and a conscious following. Let us turn our gaze to God and discuss our ways with Him. When we ask God for insight and perspective, we are open to accepting His correction for us and to trusting His guidance. God's perspective is the greater and more far-sighted. He has the whole overview.

Sometimes God's ways seem very difficult to us, but they always lead us to the right goal. They say we have to trust God's way. But you can only trust if you believe that God will really do everything for our good and will keep us from bad things.

Commit your ways to the Lord! Let him fight for you and you will be the winner in the end.

God promises: If you look for me, you will find me. Yes, if you ask about me with all your heart, I want you to find me. I promise, the Lord. I will turn your fate for the better. (Jer 29: 13-14)

Cultivate community and fellowship

The Christian life is a growing process. Our relationship with God the Father and Jesus Christ deepens as we learn to trust God more and more. Here is some advice:

  • Let us not live by our own strength, but by the power of the Holy Spirit. It helps to claim the forgiveness that Jesus Christ promised us every day.

  • As Christians we live by faith. We want to trust God and His promises in the Word, the Bible. Here is our hope.

  • Daily Bible reading strengthens our faith. In the beginning, it may help us to use a structured Bible reading plan and guide. The silent time also includes prayer, that is, talking to God, and perhaps also praise. We shouldn't just talk, we should also become good listeners. Every friendship needs to be cultivated, including fellowship with God.

  • Communion with God is the most important communion. It strengthens us and fills us with God's love and mercy. His grace fills us.

  • As Christians it is good if we seek fellowship with other Christians, because being a Christian is not a private matter. Let us be a testimony of our faith and let other people participate in our lives. Our gifts that God has given us should be used for the benefit of other people. Faith and love form a unit.

The importance of the Christian community:

  • The Bible refers to the Christian community as the body of Christ . The individual believers are the members of this body, the head is Christ. The links are different and complement each other. Every Christian needs to be complemented by the other.

  • But we can also have fellowship with our partner, with our family, with friends without visiting a church building. There are now several house churches or internet communities.

Fellowship with God

The Bible speaks of God longing to be with us humans. He showed his devotion most clearly by sending his Son Jesus Christ to us.

Jesus showed us how God intended his relationship with us. He introduced us to his "Father in Heaven", who also wants to be our Father: loving, forgiving, kind. Jesus acted accordingly and set an example for us.

After the resurrection, Jesus became the mediator between us and his Father. He is again right in front of the throne of God, in the immediate vicinity of the Father. Everything that is in the Father flows to us, so to speak, through the Son.

An intact relationship with God is possible again. Everyone who believes in Jesus, that is, trusts him, reckons with him, lives with him, is, so to speak, reconnected with God through him. "Now we have fellowship with the true God through his Son Jesus Christ." (1 John 5:20)

Jesus the only way to God as Father. He himself said: "I am the way and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14.6).
